Enterprise in Action Programme

Through Enterprise in Action students gain hands-on experience of the highs and lows, risks and rewards of working in a team to design, develop, construct a model for, and promote a product.

The programme is split into seven sessions. It can be run over seven weeks or as a 2-day programme. It is presented in-curriculum by a Business Partner and Teacher Partner.

The programme sessions are linked to the Enterprise in Action web site and students return to the web site at the end of each session to update their company’s on-line record. Students also receive from the site information and clues that are specific to their company, and which can be used to help them in the next session.

At each stage of the process the students' understanding of key business and economic concepts is also developed through practical activities and games.

The seven sessions of Enterprise in Action are:

  • Session 1: What does it mean to be enterprising?
  • Session 2: Creative thinking & planning
  • Session 3: Customer focus, research & design
  • Session 4: Costing, pricing & quality
  • Session 5: Building the product prototype model
  • Session 6: Advertising & promotion
  • Session 7: Review & competition
